Many Show Choir Firsts Occurred February 23rd!!


Some great things happened this past Show Choir Saturday. I have listed them below.

Carmel "Accents" pass Carmel "Ambassadors"

Carmel HS traveled to Olentangy, Ohio to compete at the Keynote Classic 2018. This was one of Ohio's premiere competitions of 2019. 4 Tier 1 groups competed, 3 Tier 2, 3 Tier 3, 4 Single-Gender, and 5 Middle School groups. 6 groups advanced to finals, including Fairfield "Choraliers," Carmel "Ambassadors," Findlay "First Edition," Loveland "By Request," Carmel "Accents," and Fairfield "Pure Elegance. Carmel "Accents" placed top in the Womens Division with Fairfield "Pure Elegance" coming in 2nd. The final results are posted below:

Neenah "Vintage" Earns Grand Champion at Brodhead - 1st Time in 20 Years

For the first time in 20 years, Neenah's "Vintage" took home a Grand Champion award. At Brodhead, "Vintage" came out with Grand Champion, Best Vocals, Best Band, and Best Costumes! What a great accomplishment for this group!! Keep it going Neenah!!











Sioux Falls Roosevelt "Capitol Harmony" wins 1st Grand Champion ever at Vermillion

Vermillion was another competition that was affected by the Winter Storm. Groups started ropping like flies, but that didn't stop Sioux Falls Roosevelt's "Capitol Harmony" from traveling to Vermillion. The 5 groups that competed were part of the Open Division. "Capitol Harmony" was awarded Grand Champion along with caption awards for Best Vocals, Best Band, Best Crew, and 2 Best Soloist Awards!! Congratulations "Capitol Harmony!"

Carter Hayden from "Celebration Co." receives 6/6 Best Male Soloist Awards!!

Carter Hayden from Benton's "Celebration Co." received 6 Best Male Soloist Awards at the 6 competitions the Group Attended. Carter won Best Soloist at the following competitions: Des Moines Christian, West Branch, La Crosse Central, West Liberty, Waconia, and Central Lee.

Benton "Celebration Co." Earns 4 Grand Championships in 2019

What a year for Benton's "Celebration Co." They earned 4 Grand Champions, and 2 - 2nd Runner-Up awards. They also attained a Grand Champion sweep at West Branch. The competitions where they took Grand Champion: Des Moines Christian, West Branch, West Liberty, and Central Lee. They took 2nd Runner-Up at La Crosse Central and Waconia. Congratulations "Celebration Co." on an incredible year!!

Linn-Mar's "10th St. Edition" takes GC at Urbandale against the best Iowa Show Choirs!!

On Saturday, February 9th, 2 - 9th Grade Groups, 5 - Women's Division Groups, 6 - Prep Division Groups, and 7 - Varsity/Open Division Groups traveled to Urbandale to compete in the longest running show choir competition in the state of Iowa !!! The day started off with the 2 9th Grade Division Competitors. After that, the Women's Division, competitors took their turn competing. Starting at 11:05am, the Prep Division started performing!! After lunch, there were two Prep Division groups that still needed to perform and then the Open Class started competing. Last year's Grand Champion, Johnston "Innovation," finished out the Open Class with a great performance. After they performed, the host choir, Urbandale "Studio 2019" showed off their boat-themed show to their audience. Going into daytime awards, the top placements in each class were given. They go as follows: 9TH GRADE RESULTS 1st - Johnston "Sound Advice" 2nd - Waukee Prairieview ...

"Flight" Claims Grand Championship across town at Choral Classic

On Saturday, March 9th, 13 mixed show choirs and 3 womens show choirs traveled to Wheaton, IL for the renowned Choral Classic. This event has been a hot spot for show choirs for as long as people can remember. It never fails to amaze the spectators with the amount of talent that runs through the stage. The day kicked off with the Women's Division participants. After the three of them performed, the mixed division kicked off right away!! The talent kept growing throughout the day with groups traveling in from all across the country. Defending champions, "Titan Fever" closed out the daytime competition right before WWS "Espirit" presented their A-M-A-Z-I-N-G show. The daytime awards ceremony followed after WWS's exhibition performance. During daytime awards, each group was presented with a certificate of participation, then we went on to the actual awards. Hastings "Riverside Company" were the BIG WINNERS at "Competition of Excellence" 2019

Photo Courtesy of Hastings Show Choir Fan on Twitter. On January 26th, Hastings " Riverside Company " headed to Omaha, Nebraska for Westside's "Competition of Excellence." " Riverside Company " was third to last to perform in the daytime round. Going into the competition, the group has earned 1 Grand Champion at Ankeny Centennial's "Mid-Iowa Show Choir Championships" earning Best Vocals, Best Band, and Best Male Soloist. " Riverside Company " also competed at the Onalaska "Classic" on January 12th, earning 3rd Place, right behind, Westside's "ATSC," and Bemidji's "Vocalmotive." Last year at Westside, " Riverside Company " earned 3rd Place alongside taking Best Closer. During daytime awards this year, " Riverside Company " took Best Opener, Best Ballad, and an Outstanding Soloist Award for Grace Reilly. The group was selected to perform last in finals at 9:45pm.
