"Riverside Company" gains another Grand Champion @ Dubuque Wahlert

On Saturday, February 2nd, Hastings "Riverside Company" traveled to Dubuque, IA to compete at the 1st Annual Key City Classic, hosted by Wahlert Catholic HS. 13 groups from 4 states came to Dubuque to compete.

Going into the competition, 3 groups have earned Grand Champion this season already. During daytime awards, Sauk Prairie's "Soaring Sound" earned 1st Place in the Middle School Division. CR Jefferson's "Ovation" earned the top spot in the prep division earning Best Vocals & Best Choreography. Prep Division & Middle School Division Results below:

1st: Sauk Prairie "Soaring Sound"
2nd: Mazzuchelli Catholic "Ignite!"

Prep Division
1st: CR Jefferson "Ovation" (BV, BC)
2nd: Hastings "Upstage Revolution" (Best Soloist)
3rd: Holmen "Midwest Magic"

There were two varsity divisions for this competition, 3A & 4A. In class 3A, Mayville's "Cardinal Singers" was 1st Place and Anamosa's "Sadie Street Singers" earned 2nd Place.

In Class 4A, Hasting's "Riverside Company" was 1st, Glenwood's "Titan Fever" was 2nd, CR Jefferson's "West Side Delegation" was 3rd, Holmen's "Midwest Express" was 4th, Western Dubuque's "5th Avenue" was 5th, and Tomah's "Limited Edition" was 6th.

Some caption awards were also given out for daytime. Best Band was awarded to Hasting's "Riverside Company." "Riverside Company" also earned a Best Female Soloist award. Best Male Soloist was awarded to "West Side Delegation." Best Crew & Spirit Award were given to "5th Avenue"

Announcements for finals then came next. The order was as follows: "5th Avenue," "West Side Delegation," "Cardinal Singers," "Titan Fever," "Riverside Company," and "Midwest Express"

During Final Awards, Best Choreography & 1st RU was awarded to Glenwood's "Titan Fever." Best Vocals and Grand Champion was awarded to Hasting's "Riverside Company."

This Grand Champion was "Riverside Company's" 3rd in the 2019 season. "Riverside Company" was named Grand Champion at Ankeny Centennial's "Mid-Iowa Show Choir Championships," Westside's "Competition of Excellence," and now at Wahlert Catholic's "Key City Classic." At Onalaska's "Classic," "Riverside Company" was awarded 3rd Place.

"Flight" Claims Grand Championship across town at Choral Classic

On Saturday, March 9th, 13 mixed show choirs and 3 womens show choirs traveled to Wheaton, IL for the renowned Choral Classic. This event has been a hot spot for show choirs for as long as people can remember. It never fails to amaze the spectators with the amount of talent that runs through the stage. The day kicked off with the Women's Division participants. After the three of them performed, the mixed division kicked off right away!! The talent kept growing throughout the day with groups traveling in from all across the country. Defending champions, "Titan Fever" closed out the daytime competition right before WWS "Espirit" presented their A-M-A-Z-I-N-G show. The daytime awards ceremony followed after WWS's exhibition performance. During daytime awards, each group was presented with a certificate of participation, then we went on to the actual awards. Hastings "Riverside Company" were the BIG WINNERS at "Competition of Excellence" 2019

" Riverside Company " was third to last to perform in the daytime round. Going into the competition, the group has earned 1 Grand Champion at Ankeny Centennial's "Mid-Iowa Show Choir Championships" earning Best Vocals, Best Band, and Best Male Soloist. " Riverside Company " also competed at the Onalaska "Classic" on January 12th, earning 3rd Place, right behind, Westside's "ATSC," and Bemidji's "Vocalmotive." Last year at Westside, " Riverside Company " earned 3rd Place alongside taking Best Closer. During daytime awards this year, " Riverside Company " took Best Opener, Best Ballad, and an Outstanding Soloist Award for Grace Reilly. The group was selected to perform last in finals at 9:45pm.
