Decatur Gives Some Unpredictable Results!!!

On Saturday, March 16th, Decatur's "Elite Energy" hosted their annual "Premiere Show Choir Invitational" at Millikin University. The day was jam packed full of great performance only allowing groups to perform once.

The event turned out to be a great turn-up between Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin show choirs. This was a one-and-done competition due to all the groups competing. 8 Varsity, 7 Womens, and 5 Single-Gender Division groups competed. Many of these groups have competed before already this season. When awards came out, the audience was kind of shocked at the results. Going into this competition, nobody could really predict exactly how this was going to go due to prior competitions. You can see the full results below:

Prep Division:
Grand Champion: Peoria Area "Soundwave" (BV, BC)
1st Runner-Up: Mt. Zion "Premiere"
2nd Runner-Up: Craig "Illuminations"

Single-Gender Division:
Grand Champion: Center Grove "Debtones" (BV)
1st Runner-Up: Franklin Central "High Voltage"
2nd Runner-Up: Mt. Zion "You've Got Male" (BC)
Premiere Choice Award: Danville "Contemporaries"

Varsity Division:
Grand Champion: Center Grove "Sound System" (BV, Best Male Soloist)
1st Runner-Up: Franklin Central "FC Singers" (Best Costumes, Best Female Performer)
2nd Runner-Up: Mt. Zion "Swingsations" (BC, Best Crew, Best Female Soloist, Best Male Performer)
3rd Runner-Up: Craig "Spotlighters"
4th Runner-Up: Prospect "Mixed Company"
5th Runner-Up: Sullivan "Singers"

These awards shocked everybody. Franklin Central, Center Grove, and Mt. Zion have all competed against each other at Franklin Community when Franklin Central came out on top then Center Grove and then Mt. Zion, with Franklin Central earning Best Vocals and Mt. Zion earning Best Visuals.

Franklin Central was currently undefeated up until this point, now Center Grove came out on top. Two weeks ago, Center Grove took 4th at Glenwood and Mt. Zion took 5th.

This is "Sound System's" first Grand Championship of the year. Next weekend, they will compete at one of the largest and most competitive show choirs events o the year in Nashville, TN @ Show Choir Nationals. Good luck in Nashville Center Grove "Sound System" & "Debtones!"
