On Saturday, March 9th, Johnston Show Choirs, as well as many others, traveled to Kansas City to compete in the annual Heart of America competition.
The day kicked off with the Concert Choir portion of the event. After that, Oak Grove's "Centerstage" started off the Varsity Division at 9:30am. Broken Arrow's "Tiger Catalyst" kicked off the women's division while Johnston's "Synergy" kicked off the Prep Division. After a host performance by Mt. Mercy's Show Choir, the Showcase performance was announced, earning and exhibition performance after the finalists performed.

This is "Innovation's" 2nd Grand Championship of the year. The other Grand Championship came from Waukee's "StarStruck." They placed 2nd at 3 competitions including Urbandale, Davenport, and Southeast Polk.
I would also like to give a shoutout to "Synergy" because they are one of the best prep groups this year. They have made finals at 3/5 competitions and won the prep division at 4/5 competitions this year. What a great honor!
Also, I would like to give a shoutout to their band, they are one of the only UNDEFEATED bands in the 2019 Competition Season. They are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! The band adds a whole other element to show choir, and when you have a great band, you basically have a great show choir!! Congratulations to the Johnston band. (Might I also say you did amazing playing with Synergy as well!!)
Congratulations on a great season "Innovation" & "Synergy!" We can't wait to see what things you have in store next year!!
